If you love nature, Santa Cruz makes an excellent launching pad. Board a boat tour from the wharf for whale-watching—grays, blues, or humpbacks, depending on the time of year—or take a winding drive in the Santa Cruz Mountains to see the ancient trees at Big Basin Redwoods State Park.

Fun, fun, fun in the warm California sun – The Boardwalk! When most people think of Santa Cruz their minds jump to the amusement park on the beach but Santa Cruz is so much more than that! With 29 miles of coastline there’s plenty of room for water sports such as boogie, skim and stand up paddle boarding. Not to mention the world class surf breaks. For those that aren’t into the water scene downtown Santa Cruz has a plethora of shops, from curated boutiques to quirky vintage clothing stores and art galleries.

Thanks in part to desirable weather year round, Santa Cruz is able to host many events. From spring to late fall you can find events such as Woodies on the wharf, Wednesday evening sailboat racing, the fungus fair and clam chowder cook off.

There are also many family friendly things to in Santa Cruz as well. Children (and adults!) can pet a shark and see the skeleton of a Blue Whale and a Gray Whale at the Seymour center. From mountain biking trails at Wilder ranch to hopping onto a beach cruiser and riding along West Cliff, Santa Cruz is a cyclists dream.
